Work starts Jan 14th onwards. General pictures.

Our tents up in the back yard. We slept in them for those first two weeks, rather than in the house.
The girls begin painting the backyard fence. They did a good job too.
It was hot those first few days and Robert enjoyed a good swim.
Mark on the roof. It needed a few repairs including replacing a few bits of iron. And then painting some areas to seal the roof against the sandblasting.

Robert 'drilling'.
Our main cooking appliance for 2-3 weeks -the bbq.
The track to the beach.

The sunsets are awesome here.

A local about to go for a burn on the dunes. Looks like heaps of fun.
Gemma Tolmie. Visiting us with her Dad and Mum, Ellis and Steph.

A local WW2 gun implacement that Caroline found in the dunes.

Robert.
The huge pile of branches and junk between the garage and the sleepouts.

Caroline.
Having fun.

Sophia.
Packing up the tents. Our first three weeks are over.

The house as it was before we started -part 2

The main lounge. And that ugly fireplace.

The other half of the lounge as it was. Where Robert is sitting is the ideal spot for a TV area.

Seafront rd. Our car is in front of our house.

The view from the house of the dunes in front.
The garage at the back of the section.
The master bedroom as it was.

The second bedroom in the main part of the house. It has purple walls and had the most foul smelling carpet.
The wood shed full of junk before we made it over into a sleepout. The existing second sleepout. It has lovely tongue and groove walls and is huge. This picture of it with tools and work in progress is the best "before" photo I can find.

Introducing the house as it was before we started.

The beach at Castlecliff and the surf club. Our place is 600m from here.

The back yard looking towards the house.

Looking from the house to the garage and back fence.

This is the lounge as it was. Note the putrid multi coloured fireplace. This is the kitchen. The old gas stove was rusty and ugly. The cupboards were green. The bench had been painted bright orange with gold swirls and the floor was deep purple. That's not to mention the rainbow you can see around the stove.

The kitchen bench.

The ex hot water cupboard.

The former pantry. The green cupboards beside it are made of beautiful old wood inside and there is a '50s clipping glued to the inside of one. Very historic.

The washhouse and back door. It was actually carpeted (which stank but not as badly as the 2nd bedroom's carpet). Note the purple door and green ceiling. The green ceiling was through the toilet too.

The bathroom is tiny and part of it had a rotten floor. Wallpaper border had been painted and then pasted around the room so that it would look really ugly!

Picture of our house

This is our little house at 6 Seafront road. Over January and February 07 we have been turning it from ugly duckling to swan.
